“As I stand on the edge of the site overlooking the majestic valley, I’m captivated by the movement of landscape that gently rises & falls as the sun dances poetically across the vista.
This movement begins to inform an idea that couples the found convergence of the natural & built environment within the Ferguson Valley. It begins to speak to the times of growth expressed through innovation, autonomy & celebration. I start with the fundamental forms that embody these characteristics through a study of flora, vessels, growth patterns & cycling.
I discover a consistent curvature present in these explorations & decide to centre my research on the circular movement evident in these various forms. The intent is to develop a sculptural form that celebrates & compliments the existing view - to welcome a moment of pause to absorb the valley’s beauty & to inspire a more in depth understanding of the Ferguson Valley’s varied offerings.”
